Made‑to‑order pieces and commissions: opulent, considered, refined.

We build with local ash and oak, often pairing the grain’s topography with a ceramic field.

All our pieces are made to order, to your specific dimensions. Built from scratch and meticulously assembled, each piece is unique and personally signed and dated by Gavin and Jonquil.

Jonquil’s sgraffito tiles are entirely handmade and carved in her London studio. Each tile represents hours of work, mixing her own glazes, evolving the design and carving the surface.

Gavin’s woodwork, into which the tiles are fitted, is solidly constructed, beautifully shaped and oiled and waxed to make a feature of the grain of the quality wood.

For every commission,  we begin with intent and end with installation, we can share samples and drafts with you as we proceed.

Commissioning a bespoke piece from McClafferty and Cook ensures you a unique product of heirloom quality.

Timelines

Most commissions take 8–16 weeks depending on their scope.

Materials & sampling

We work mainly in ash and oak with options for brass or stainless steel detailing. Our ceramic tiles are stoneware with custom-made slips and glazes.

Delivery & installation

We ship across the UK and internationally with trusted partners. We’ll check access (stairs, tight corners) and plan the safest route. White-glove/Turnkey installation available on request.
